Weekend Inspiration for Kunefe

Ingredients:

225 g of kadaif noodles

125 g of butter

2 tablespoons of milk

200 g of feta cheese

2 tablespoons of honey and butter mixture

1.5 cups of water

1.5 cups of sugar

1 cup of lemon juice

 

Make the syrup by bringing the water and sugar to a boil, then reduce the heat and stir for about 15 minutes. After that, add the lemon juice to the syrup and set it aside.

Then, mix 2 tablespoons of butter and honey, while melting the remaining butter and combining it with the milk. Grease a baking dish with a thin layer of butter and honey, add half of the crushed noodles, press them lightly, and then brush half of the butter and milk mixture on top. Evenly spread the crushed feta cheese over it, cover with the remaining noodles, and then spread the rest of the butter and milk mixture on top.

Bake at 190°C, and when the kunefe turns a nice golden color, remove it from the oven, flip it onto a plate, and then return it to the baking dish greased with the remaining honey and butter to bake the other side. Finally, pour the warm syrup over it and serve on warm plates.
