Weekend Inspiration for Turkish Pide

Ingredients for the dough:

  • 100 ml warm water
  • 100 ml yogurt
  • 100 ml oil
  • 20 g fresh yeast
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 500 g all-purpose flour

Ingredients for the filling:

  • 300 g ground beef
  • 1 onion
  • 1 tomato
  • 1 egg
  • olive oil
  • salt and pepper

 

Preparation:

Dissolve the sugar and yeast in warm water. Add oil, yogurt, and salt, then gradually add flour. Knead the dough and let it rest for 2 hours. Sauté the chopped onion in oil, then add the meat and cook for about 10 minutes. Add finely chopped tomato and spices, and cook for a few more minutes. Divide the dough into 6 balls, roll each out, and pinch the edges together. Place the filling in the center and brush the edges with a beaten egg. Bake in a preheated oven at 250°C for about 20 minutes. Enjoy!
