Weekend Inspiration for Shepherd’s Pie
Ingredients for Shepherd’s Pie:
- 500 g minced meat
- 1 large onion
- 2 cloves of garlic
- 1/2 beef soup cube
- 100 ml cooking cream
- 200 ml pureed tomatoes
- Salt, pepper, basil, oregano, ground sweet and hot pepper, parsley
- 1 package of frozen peas and carrots
- 1 kg potatoes
- 1 spoonful of sour cream
- 150 g butter
- 100 ml milk
Shepherd’s pie is a traditional Irish dish with minced meat, vegetables, and mashed potatoes. Throughout history, it has become one of the most famous savory pies in the world.

Put unpeeled potatoes to cook. During this time, prepare the meat. Fry the onion first, then add the minced meat and spices. After 15 minutes, add half a beef soup cube melted in boiling water and pureed tomatoes. Add the frozen vegetables and cook for another 15 minutes. At the very end, add a little cooking cream to make the sauce creamier. After the potatoes are cooked, peel and mash them, then add milk, melted butter, and a spoonful of sour cream – to make mashed potatoes. Coat the bottom of the oven dish with butter. Put the sauce in a bowl, and spread the mashed potatoes on top of the sauce. Sprinkle with sweet ground paprika and bake for 45 minutes at 200°C.
